Greg Preece

I was born on Rekohu and fished and farmed on Pitt Island for 30 years so am very well acquainted with the difficulties and challenges of living on a small isolated island community. My father was Herbert Preece. I am from the line of Kiti Karaka and Riwai Te Ropiha. I lived on Pitt Island for the first 50 years of my life and spent 4 years at boarding school in Christchurch. I am now living in Dunedin to be closer to my family. I currently run my own business as a Franchise Owner of a Mr Green Lawnmowing service in Dunedin.

I am passionate about my Moriori Culture and didn’t find out I was Moriori until I was well into my 30’s so have been learning as much as I can since then. I have been a trustee of Hokotehi Moriori for a three year term and have enjoyed the experience and challenges. I’m confident that despite the difficulties we have been experiencing the last couple of years that we are on the right track. I was recently re-elected as a trustee and will work hard over the next 3 years to represent the interests of all Moriori.

Me rongo.
