Ko Rekohu te motu, Ko Te Ranga-a-Pehe te Maunga, Ko Oropuke te waka, Kopinga te Marae, Ko Manukau te Ukaipo, Ko Tame Horomona Rehe te Rangatira, Ko Maui Solomon ahau. Na reira, Rekohu te kakano o te Imi Moriori, tena kotau, tena kotau, hokomenetai ,me rongo.

I am a Lawyer by profession and have been self-employed as a Barrister since 1992 specialising in the area of Treaty and Indigenous Peoples right, resource management, Waitangi Tribunal, civil courts, commercial law, mediation and negotiation work and cultural and intellectual property law. I have three timiriki (children), Kahu, Tamarau and Hinemata. My partner Susan has two boys Jasper and Tasman.

I have dedicated the last 26 years of my life to serving Moriori and acting as an advocate for the revival and recognition of Moriori culture, heritage and identity on Rekohu, in New Zealand and internationally. It has been an honour and a privilege to do so to uphold the proud legacy of peace left to us by our Karapuna (ancestors) and to honour present and future generations as the tchakat henu or indigenous peoples of Rekohu.

As long as I am working for Hokotehi I will continue to work for the betterment of Moriori and to re-establish our mana and cultural and commercial base on Rekohu, New Zealand and elsewhere. Iarohahu me rongo.
