Enjoy lodge-style accommodation for the discerning traveller at Henga Lodge. Come and receive a genuine “Moriori Experience” at Henga Lodge. Experience great people, great food, great fun and fantastic value.
Henga Lodge guests will be treated to a tour of Kopinga Marae opened by Prime Minister Helen Clark in 2005. At the centre of the Marae stand five 15 foot totara panels with the carved names of all the Moriori alive in 1835;1561 names in all. The marae stands as a tribute to the sacrifices and legacy of our ancestors for their unwavering committment to peace.
Set on the edge of the magnificent Henga Scenic Reserve
Henga Reserve backs onto Henga Lodge and provides visitors with a unique walking experience through native Chathams flora which leads down to the sandunes and expansive views of Pacific Ocean and beaches that stretch for miles in either direction with not a living soul in sight.
Henga Lodge has 11 fully serviced rooms and can comfortably cater for groups up to 20-22 in number . Whilst the Lodge is fully serviced in terms of provision of meals, accommodation, transport and organised trips etc, we also cater for groups who would rather look after themselves and do their own cooking and sight seeing. If this is what you are after then please contact us for prices which will be at a reduced rate than fully serviced.
